So sorry I could not be there. I really loved Janet. She was such a sweet and kind person. My mother, Francine Nagin, was her first cousin, and they were very close. When she came into New York, she’d stay at our house. They’d go out to dinner and plays and were regularly in touch and sometimes I’d tag along and we had a great time. She went to my mother’s funeral and it was so nice seeing her that day and having a member of her side of the family–the Chicago side–there for that difficult day.
I live in Alabama now so I don’t always get to see the Chicago side of our family but I am there in spirit and am so sorry for this terrible loss. Rest In Peace to a wonderful person and a special spirit that made the lives of others brighter and that brought warmth and joy into this world. She will be missed but not forgotten!

Janet was always smiling–in person and virtually. She genuinely cared about the people around her and the work she did. I believe she really wanted to help people grow and challenge themselves to be better. She impacted so many people at our company, but I can only imagine the ripple her life left throughout her entire career and personal life. I think that’s a legacy worth aspiring to. My deepest sympathies go out to her family during this time; I know the impact she had will continue to echo.

Janet was special in many ways. She was able to be strong and steadfast, and warm and open all at the same time. Over the last several years our work relationship grew into a friendship. She was a brilliant collaborator, a master storyteller, and thoughtful friend (she never let a birthday pass without making sure someone in my life got me a birthday donut and was delighted to send me a picture of a sign that read “eat more hole foods.”) I will miss our weekly chats that almost always ended in Janet sharing the perfect nugget of sage advice. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to know her. My deepest condolences to Jim, her girls, and the rest of her family as they navigate this next phase of life.

My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
I have fond memories of Janet when she first started as a colleague of mine. She would stop by my desk on the way to hers to talk. Invariable she would bring a ray of sunshine into my day in her upbeat and energetic way. We soon became friends and later she became a inspiring mentor when I made a career change that found me on her team. She has had a profound impact on my life and will always be fondly remembered.

I have many fond memories of Janet however 2 of them come to the forefront of my mind quickly.
– One of my first memories with her was when she brought me over to her team from another department and told me to look through our team’s files to become more familiar with our workflow. During my search, I found a file with birthday information for most people in the department. I called Janet and told her about the file I found and said “Can you believe I moved over from one team where the manager is Jessica to your team Janet AND you’re both born on September 11th! Both Virgos, what are the odds!!”. She found that amusing and started a new tradition of calling Jessica her birthday buddy.
– Another fond memory took place in spring of 2024. It was a sunny morning, and I have just logged into work to start my day. As I was answering emails, I receive a call from Janet on my cell phone. Odd, she doesn’t ever call my cell. I picked up and hear ‘Hi, how is your morning – are you available? Can you take a look outside?”
To my surprise, there was a large RV parked in my driveway. She and her husband Jim swung by to say hello as they were traveling through the area. It was such a fun surprise, and I was able to introduce my husband and my baby boy to both of them.
I will and already do miss Janet. She was a great person and a wonderful teacher. I am so happy our lives intertwined, and I had the opportunity to spend almost 3 years under her mentorship. My deepest condolences to the family.

Dear McCormicks/Sanes,
My heart breaks at the loss of my dear friend of more than 45 yrs. My heart swells with the joy of knowing her and the memories we had.
We met when I walked into her gr. 2 class to discuss the new district textbook program and left each other as friends, having found many things in common. Shortly after that (and several career conversations) she decided she also wanted to enter the field of educational sales. Janet learned the business quickly and after a number of years of us enjoying working together, she left to pursue new career opportunities. We always made specific times to get together and chat. Spring and fall we met up for minimum 3 hour lunches confiding in each other, talking business, family, recipes, travel, and laughing about so much. (There were only a few Passovers and High Holidays, when we missed getting together.) Janet included me in family simchas making me feel like a part of them. I’m grateful she dubbed me “aunt” to you girls.
She loved her family desperately. Her pride in you, Jim,Rebecca, Emily and Sarah, all your lives in everything you all did, was fierce. The love for you was at the very core of her being. Janet had a gift of “taking in” people and happily engulfed Derek, Greg and Grant into her love and took your families in as hers! When Whitney and Henry came along her heart swelled even more, with overflowing love.
Janet’s specialties were living life fully, traveling, working, synagogue activities, and mostly loving!
Janet’s wisdom was incredible. She was pragmatic, smart, practical and insightful. She had a way with words and taught me so much about people, life, work and more. Mostly, my dear friend was kind, loving, caring, honest, fun and funny. I will miss her very much and will carry her giant hugs, the memories of her wonderful smiles and her words of wisdom always.
I loved my joyful friend and send you, her treasured family, my love, too. ❣️

You were such a ray of sunshine! When I first joined S&C, there were zero technical or product resources available, and what a world of difference you made as you built out your training team! You were always so positive, tactful, encouraging, and genuinely interested in getting to know everyone around you. I will miss how you ended almost every conversation with your signature, “It’s a pleasure collaborating with you.” You fostered a lasting, beautiful culture at S&C that reflects the beautiful person you were.

I first met Janet 2 years ago through S&C. She taught me a lot in that short time and was a joy to be around. Our team gave our first presentation on my birthday, and Janet drove 2 hours with a birthday cake to be there and support all of us. She is greatly loved and will be missed dearly!

Janet and I were co-workers and I have such great memories of her. Janet’s passion for anything she got involved was very evident and truly inspiring! She’d put her very best in every project and she was always so kind to anyone in the organization. I’ve learned so much and I am sure she will be missed as professional but also as a great friend and mentor she was. My sincere condolences for the family.
