Obituary

Roslyn Frances Peck, née Mendell, lived and loved life. If you were fortunate to meet her you never forgot her. Born January 17,1928 she peacefully died March 13, 2025. Roz was kind, spunky, intelligent and witty. She understood and cherished the value of family, friends and community. Roz’s life revolved around her community. She and her husband (the late Joseph Peck) raised five children, Kerry (Hillary), Kraig (Donna), Kevin (Roxanne) Klaudeen (Frank) and the late Keenen. Roz and Joe’s love for their family was endless. Roz’s main goal in life was to provide a good upbringing and life for her children. She and Joe took the children on numerous family vacations throughout the United States and internationally. As avid tennis players they taught their children the love of the game. Born and raised in Chicago, Roz graduated from Von Steuben High School in 1942. She will be missed for the grace, charm, humor and dignity she brought to Chicagoland. On any day one could run into Roz at an art fair, Ravinia, the pancake house, the Chicago Botanic Garden, the beach, a tennis court, a redhead festival, at the temple, or shopping at Old Orchard or Edens Plaza. Until her final days Roz sang “Que Sera Sera” daily. To know her was to love her and to hear her. Roz died loved by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in honor of her name to the Chicago Botanic Garden, www.chicagobotanic.org. Chapel service Monday March 17, 2025, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment following at Shalom Memorial Park.
