Stanley Joseph Turner

Loving son of the late Harry Turner and the late Goldie (nee Barbush) Turner Loving brother of the late Shirley (Haskell) Karp Smolin Uncle to Michael Karp, the late Joel Karp, and Martin (Nancy) Karp Great Uncle to Zachary (Linda) Karp, Julie (Rick) Gard, Garrett Karp, and Benjamin Karp Great Great Uncle to Joey Karp, Viviana Karp, Samantha Karp, Alexa Gard, and Rachel Gard

Stan grew up in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, graduated from Crane Tech High School, and served in the military at the tail end of WWII. He had a varied career, working for the US Postal Service, Marshall Field’s department store, and the Lincoln Park Zoo.

When he retired, he lived in Albuquerque for several years to pursue his love of nature and hiking, and he volunteered for the Sierra Club working on prairie restorations in New Mexico.

Stan was a kind and generous soul, always willing to lend a hand to the family with a smile. Stan was able to live a long, active, and independent life into his 90’s. He loved hiking and going to the library. He will be missed by everyone he touched.
