Milton L. Smith, 89, beloved husband of Judith nee Lavender for 60 years; loving father of Karen (Brian) Daley and Melissa (Jeffrey) Taylor; cherished Grandpa of William and Sarah; dear brother of the late Toby Nitz, Jerome Smith and Susan Halick; many loving nieces and nephews. Milton was an underwriter with Fireman’s Fund Insurance for 46 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org. Chapel service, Friday, 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Milt was my mentor when I joined Fireman’s Fund. I have many wonderful memories of working with him in the Real Estate Unit. It was just a special group of people and Milt was one of my favorites. I’m so glad we all got to spend time together for his birthday in more recent years. My prayers for comfort for the family at this difficult time.

Milt was training mentor for new underwriters @ Fireman’s Fund when I started there in 1975. He was a great mentor for all of our trainees. He was thoughtful,caring and most of all a great listener and one of the nicest people I ever worked alongside.
