Obituary

Michael Mann Those closest to Michael remember him as a mild-mannered man who never limited his family to bloodlines. Michael’s open heart will be treasured by many. As the eldest of three siblings, Michael was his mother’s self-proclaimed “golden” child. He spent his childhood in the suburbs of Chicago. For college, Michael attended the University of Denver. It was there where he joined Beta Theta Pi, engaging in endless shenanigans and making lifelong friends along the way. Looking to escape snowy winters, Michael spent the majority of his adult life in South Florida, where he met the love of his life, Monique. His weekends were always quiet. On Saturday mornings, he often passed out groceries at the local community center. On Sundays, you could find him manning his beloved barbeque, keeping a close eye on the score of the football game. Michael had a fondness for creatures big and small. Whether it was Buttons the rabbit or his original partner in crime, Bosco, Michael opened his home to the countless critters Taylor brought home. When he moved to New York City, it was his strolls through Central Park with his dearest pup, Yogi, that brought joy to his heart. During his later years, Michael spent his time in the mountains of Colorado always with a book in hand appreciating the beauty of his surroundings. Rest easy, Michael, you will be dearly missed. As a bit of a history buff, Michael constantly emphasized the importance of education. He could often be heard saying “education is the one thing no one can ever take away from you.” In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Global Law Alliance for Animals and the Environment an Oregon-based clinic training law students to advocate for international protections for wildlife and their habitats or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, www.mskcc.org or a Charity of Your Choice Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Clarence Mann, and his sister, Kathy Mann. He is survived by his wife Monique; stepdaughter, Taylor; brother, Jim; sister-in-law Marla, and nephews, Josh, Eric, and Zach (fiancée Danah Kirsh) Mann.
