We’re sorry that Barbara and I will be unable to attend the funeral in person due to both weather and health concerns. We will attend on the streaming service.

I have known Neil for about 70 years since we met at Volta school in Albany Park, in about the 3rd or 4th grade. Because of the public school system, we were separated in high school. I went to Roosevelt and he went to Von Steuben.

Neil attended Loyola University for one year and then we met up again at the Circle Campus and again at the U of I Medical School.

Neil was in residency at Michael Reese while I was at the U of I. I was away in Seattle and Atlanta when he went in to practice and bought a house in Olympia Fields. He actually moonlighted at Lutheran General Hospital, a place I joined a few years later and remained for the next 42 years.

When the children were younger, we would spend a few days in his home at New Year’s. We actually spent one New Year’s together in Lake Geneva when I believe Susan was pregnant with Rhonda. In later years we would meet in Oak Brook for lunch on New Year’s day.

Neil and I came from similar grounds and both of us had to work hard to make enough money to afford our education.

In the past few years we both suffered from medical problems that limited our mobility and we could not visit each other as much as we wanted to.

I was happy to be able to see him and interact at least a little by video during his last few days.
