Obituary

Douglas A. Shipley, 66, loving and devoted father of Dana (Darren) Nasatir, Alison (Zachary) Alhamed, and Megan (Philip) Tamulis, passed peacefully January 9, 2025 surrounded by his daughters. Douglas was the cherished grandfather of Quinn, Owen, and Vaughn Nasatir; Jameson and Benjamin Alhamed; and Chloe and Cameron Tamulis; dear brother of Craig Shipley and Debbie (Paul) Stevens, and half-siblings Bill (Eunice) Shipley and Shana (Charlie) Hayes. Doug was a treasured uncle, cousin, and friend, and will be remembered for his love of family, music, and adventure. Sunday, January 12, 2025, a Memorial Service will begin at 2:30 PM in Arlington Heights, IL at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road. Memories of fun-loving encounters on trips to Chicago through the years bring smiles and tears of longing. Memories of the stories told today by his beloved daughter will carry on in our hearts, inspiring us to live such fullness and devotion as Doug did. We hold in our hearts all those who are missing his actual presence and know he fills you up every time you look into your own hearts for his fatherly and grandfatherly love and care.

The Shipley clan at my Brother Jonathan's Bar Mitzvah 3/3/1973 Jeff Kanter

I always remember the fun times we had when our families got together. How awesome Doug’s mom Carol was and all the crazy times we had driving mini bikes all over the yard. It is great to see he was loved and that he left a great legacy. My love to everyone.
